BIOSKETCH
I am a recently retired lecturer from the Discipline of Occupational Therapy and currently hold the title of Honorary Lecturer since September 2024. With extensive experience as both a clinician and an academic, my career has been predominantly focused on mental health. My primary goal in life has always been to be a good human being and to help others become better versions of themselves. As an academic, it has been a privilege to assist and nurture students as they develop from fledglings into exceptional professionals.I strongly believe that being ethical means “doing the right thing, especially when no one is looking,” a principle I strive to uphold both professionally and personally.I obtained my Bachelor of Occupational Therapy degree from the then University of Durban-Westville (UDW) in 1986. I worked for six years in a mental health facility and subsequently managed community occupational therapy services in KwaZulu-Natal for 10 years, during which time I earned an MBA from the University of Wales.Since 2003, I have served as a lecturer at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, contributing to the development of future occupational therapists and advancing the field through education and mentorship.
