BIOSKETCH
Dr Michael O. Ogunlana is a Physiotherapist, Clinical Epidemiologist and health researcher with over 25 years of clinical, academic and research experience in Nigeria and South Africa. He is currently a Research Fellow in the College of Health Sciences at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and serves as Deputy Director of Physiotherapy Services at the Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta, Nigeria. He also holds academic appointments at Bowen University and Chrisland University, Nigeria.Dr Ogunlana holds a PhD in Physiotherapy and an MSc in Epidemiology from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, and completed a Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. His research interests include stroke rehabilitation and community reintegration, musculoskeletal health and occupational health, health-related quality of life and outcomes research, and health services and knowledge translation in low-resource settings. His work is characterised by interdisciplinary and collaborative approaches to addressing rehabilitation and health-system challenges in African contexts.He has an established record of peer-reviewed publications and international conference presentations, with research spanning rehabilitation, health services, epidemiology, disability, quality of life and culturally responsive healthcare. He is particularly interested in generating contextually relevant evidence to strengthen rehabilitation practice, education and health-service delivery in low- and middle-income settings.
