Discipline of Occupational Therapy

BIOSKETCH
Heather Pitot qualified as an Occupational Therapist at University of Cape Town in 2010. She has vast clinical experience in paediatric and physical rehabilitation in government hospitals, private acute rehabilitation centres and private practice. However, her work in rural KwaZulu-Natal has shaped her on a personal and professional level, and passion for preparing students to enable all people to participate fully in life. She is interested in outcome-based intervention, service delivery and management of Occupational Therapy services and promoting equality in access to health care services. While at Bethesda Hospital, Heather completed a Master’s in Public Health at University of Western Cape.Heather has been involved in teaching and clinical supervision at University of KwaZulu-Natal since 2018. She coordinates the first-year therapeutic media module and the third-year physical theory and fieldwork module but teaches across many modules in the Occupational Therapy course.
